ANNUAL INTENSIVE WORKSHOP
MAY 22-26, 2017, Monday through Friday
9 AM TILL 4 PM DAILY
Emphasis is placed on personal spiritual discipline and growth through a study of Christian Church teachings and principles as practiced in the making of icons. The Prosopon School is founded by and the principles and methods are under the direction of master iconographer Vladislav Andrejev.
Philadelphia area is one of the longest standing locations for the Prosopon School (www.prosoponschool.org). Since 1990, when Mr. Andrejev was starting his teaching in the US, Philadelphia has hosted an annual Intensive class and many other icon painting opportunities and exhibits. Classes are held on a periodic basis in the theory and practice of traditional Byzantine Icon painting in the Russian style using egg tempera and gold leaf on natural gessoed panel 2016

The Prosopon School will hold its annual intensive workshop in the Philadelphia area at St. Mary’s Church, 104 Louella Ave., Wayne, PA, 19087.
Advanced students will be expected to have the icon drawing transferred, gilding accomplished and lines painted on the icon prior to commencement of class.
First time students will be expected to come to the church Saturday May 20th from 9:30 pm – 4:30 pm to have these steps accomplished under the guidance of Susan Kelly vonMedicus. Any continuing students who would like to attend are welcome to these sessions as an option. No artistic experience is necessary for the icon painting workshop, all are welcome.
Tuition for May workshop $400.00 (5 days)
Tuition for Saturday May 7th session - mandatory for first time students, optional for continuing students $72.00
Materials fee* for first time students $150.00
Materials fee** for continuing students $12.00
Workshop shared expenses fee (all students) $95.00 (teacher housing and transportation etc.)
*all will be provided, gessoed wood panel, 23K gold leaf, natural hair brushes, mineral pigments, egg tempera, study guides
** continuing students will need to purchase or prepare their own boards at a size of their choosing (recommended 13 x 17 or larger) and have the gilding plus drawing accomplished and bring their own brushes. Mineral pigments and study guides will be provided.
There are several restaurants in close proximity to the church for lunch, there is a small kitchen available for those who prefer to bring their own lunch. Tea will be provided daily.

There is a minimum of 12 students needed to hold the workshop and a maximum of 25. Please register promptly to hold your place. Drawings will be provided upon registration.
